The move was made yesterday from the hospital to Hospice Home and it was incredibly painful for Larry. It took nearly 3 hours for them to get his pain under control and they now have him sedated just to keep him comfortable. Larry was able to open his eyes very briefly yesterday to look out the window of his room. I know that he would enjoy it so much if he were awake, but I'm just thankful that he's resting peacefully.

We had a bit of a rough patch around 2:30 this morning when the pain got ahead of the medication and it took nearly 3 hours to get it under control again. It happened again early this afternoon but they were able to get a handle on it much faster, thankfully. Since that time he has been sleeping comfortably.

Unless something extraordinary happens, I believe Larry's days of talking to us are over. I believe he still hears us and I talk to him quite a bit. In fact, tonight I will update him on the blog comments by reading those of the past few days. I could be wrong and he doesn't hear me, but the worst that can happen is that I read out loud for a while!

Many thanks for your kind comments to Larry and our family. It is so touching to know that Larry affected so many people.

With love,

Terri and family

Terri and Larry,

Sometimes you don't know why someone comes into your life. It may be for business, or friendship, and rarely, both. It was both for the two of us. Larry and I pretty hit it off from the getgo... talking to him sometimes would be like talking to a mirror!
I remember some of those very hot and very cold days outside that church in Clemmons; talking about what makes us who we are, about the business we were in, what we could do with video. Being there with Larry, gave me back so much about myself through our conversations, and his presence.
Larry kept me going so many times; an encouraging word about my job, the things in life that I just didn't understand... his depth of caring and empathy truly made a difference in my life. I treasure the many, many days and nights we spent shooting church services, and the various sporting events around the Triad. I cherish what Larry brought to my life. Larry, if you can hear this through Terri, I love you.
May you find peace and understanding, sing in the verdant fields and golden streets of Heaven, and bring glory to His name.

Dear Payne Family,

As I read different comments that people leave about Larry, many memories are brought to mind of how much Larry has always given of himself to help others. I think of his kindness and love for others as well as his desire to help within the church and within the lives of people. What a wonderful man Larry Payne is, and a great example of God's love! Kindhearted people can be hard to come by these days, but Larry is one special guy. God Bless You Larry for always being such a blessing to so many people. Terri and boys, just know that you are loved and appreciated more than you know. We are praying for you all!

Terri, Josh & Justin,

A lot of what I know know about video production I learned from Larry. He was a very patient teacher who was very passionate about passing on what he knew.

Larry, if you can hear this, I have come to realize that the disagreements we had are irrelevant. It is people who matter, not business. God places people in your path for a reason and looking back I know that I was blessed to have known you and your family. You gave me a lot of help and advice when we were adopting Paul, and for that I will always be grateful. You are a good father, a good husband and a talented person who has touched a lot of lives. I have a lot of really good memories of the hundreds of hours spent on video shoots with you.

Terri, I hope that Hospice will provide the most comfortable environment possible to allow Larry to pass in comfort and with dignity.
Sally and I will continue to pray for you all.

May God's Peace be with you.

T,

I'm so relieved to know that they are able to keep his pain under control. I feel sure you'd prefer him to be comfortable, rather than alert & able to talk to you but be in such excruciating pain.

My heart hurts for you, T. Know that you all are being brought before the Throne of Grace on AT LEAST an hourly basis.

We love all of you!

Greetings Larry,
I have been praying for you, but yesterday I really thought about you. I was setting up the speakers at the HP Country Club to play background music for a YWCA luncheon. Thinking back over the years of all the events that you made special with audio & video presentations for many luncheons at the club I put the CD into the machine. I knew how to do it because I had watched you do it. But I didn’t get it quite right like you had. I forgot to check the volume and about blow the roof off the club. I started laughing so hard I had tears, thinking about you. Your legacy will be with me forever, thanks buddy.

Hi, Terri
My husband Chuck worked with Larry at A&V. You have been on our minds. I placed your family in our church's prayer list.

Sherry Stevens' husband Carl is battling the same disease as Larry. She wanted me to give you her name and phone number and E-mail. She is a very kind and giving person.

I pray for your strength. I send you a hug via E-mail! Please call us and I will put you in touch with Sherry. Much love to your family.
